Letter From Founder Dave Canupp
Express Sunrooms is a family-owned and operated business right here in Charlotte. We believe in doing things right because it’s the right thing to do! Our team always strives to deliver a superior product to our customers on time, and with as few hiccups as possible.
Communication is the key to our success, because after all, the dream is yours; we just help you build it. Above all, we believe in transparency and integrity, and most importantly, a handshake that means something. Although we use the latest products, green alternatives, and cutting-edge machinery and materials, that doesn’t come at the expense of good old-fashioned concern and respect.
Dave Canupp
Dave Canupp is our fearless leader and owner. He has been in the construction industry for twenty-plus years, successfully building his business and reputation here in Charlotte. He is a Charlotte native, born and raised, and now resides here with his lovely wife, Amanda. Dave sets a high standard for his team, insisting on honesty, integrity, and (his pet peeve) punctuality.
When Dave is not on a job site and can get away, he finds his happy place in traveling. At the core of his company is integrity, transparency, and kindness. He not only loves what he does, but his customers love that he does it too! Dave, along with the entire Express Sunroom crew, believes in doing the right thing because it is the right thing to do and will go above and beyond to ensure that everyone he serves ends with more than they asked for and way more than they could’ve imagined.
Amanda Canupp
You’ve probably heard the phrase “Behind every great man lies a great woman’s support,” and nothing can be truer than with Amanda Canupp. Amanda helps with the logistics of Express Sunrooms, providing administrative support and human resources aid. She is originally from Martinsville, Virginia, but fell in love when visiting Charlotte and never left. To say that Amanda is a dog lover would be an understatement. In her former life, she handled dogs of all types, running a doggie daycare, and specializing in dogs that need extra TLC.
Amanda is not a fan of fidgety environments and likes to “bring the calm” to our family. She’s not just our problem-solver and somewhat resident den mom; she is the glue that keeps us all on track and together. Unlike Dave, who can’t get enough of country music, she’s had enough of it and prefers something a little more edgy. Together with Dave, Amanda has built a family atmosphere to our company and is considered “one of the guys.”
Alberto Gomez
Alberto Gomez is a part of our expert installer crew. A native of Honduras, he attended the University of Honduras, where he furthered his skills and professionalism. He lives with his brother, Luis, in Fort Mill (who is also a part of our family), just across the Charlotte border. In his spare time, Alberto can usually be found in the gym listening to Rock, Reggaeton, and Merengue.
Luis Marroquin
Luis Marroquin is one of our most established construction and installation members. He attended high school in Honduras before moving to the States to join our family. After hours, you can find Luis blazing trails on his motorcycle.
On the job site, he enjoys being inspired by Rock, Reggaeton, and salsa music. If you encounter him in the morning, you might want to wait until the coffee’s kicked in; it kicks his enthusiasm for what he loves into high gear — building our client’s dreams to perfection.
Armando Cruz
Armando Cruz is our specialized concrete expert. He graduated from Forest View High. Armando is originally from Mexico, but currently resides in Bessemer City. He is an outdoor lover and finds joy in taking off on a beach or mountain trip, enjoying time with his family. Armando is a lover of all musical types and is a very treasured member of our family.
Kenneth Allred
Kenneth Allred is one of our installers and lives with his wife and baby in Huntersville, North Carolina. On his days and evenings off, he enjoys fishing for sport and spending time with his family. On the worksite, Kenneth’s biggest pet peeve is tardiness, and he likes to keep everyone on task. His smile and light-heartedness keep us all positive.
Jim Sawyer
Jim Sawyer is our Director of Sales. He loves meeting with our clients and walking them through the process, presenting all the possibilities to enhance our homeowners’ properties. Jim lives with his wife, Sherry, in Gastonia and attended Ivey Tech College, where he fine-tuned his sales and customer skills. He believes in being on time and not wasting other people’s time by running late. In his leisure time, he travels and spends time with his beloved grandchildren — after all, what is better than family? He is a country boy through and through and can be found humming along with country hits.
